The Mackenzie Phillips Saga Continues. Other than Money from Book Sales, What Does She Stand to Gain By Lying?

Mackenzie Phillips was on Oprah yesterday reading excerpts from her new tell all book High on Arrival & detailing how she had a decade long affair with her father, John Phillips. Her father was the leader of the internationally famous folk singing
sensation The Mamas & the Papas, who had many hits including Monday Monday
& California Dreamin', he was also a legendary drug & booze hound & it's now safe to say you can add incestuous perv to the list. According to Mackenzie, her dad introduced her to marijuana & cocaine @ the tender age of 11 & @ age 17, she remembers the 1st time he raped her. Later on, when she confronted him about it, he was taken aback, "Raped you? Don't you mean when we made love?" was his drug addled assertion. It seems as though he remembered it a little differently. She said many was the occasion she would wake up in hotel rooms after lengthy drug binges with her pants around her ankles & her father sleeping beside her. Now, if that doesn't sound like rape, I don't know what does. She said later it turned consensual & that they were had a sexual relationship for close to 10 years until he asked her to marry him, move to Fiji & raise her brother & sister Bijou & Tamerlane as their children. That was the turning point for her & she decided to break it off for good. I guess you have to draw the line somewhere. What she should've done is chop the bastard's Johnson off after he raped her the 1st time...about 10 years earlier, while he was in one of his drug induced comas. Knowing what a sick bastard he was, he probably would've gotten off on it! Was everyone that wasted? Was there no one around to say, "Dude. You don't fuck your own daughter."? If someone had, it might've opened his eyes to what he was actually doing. Hell, even Mckenzie could've said it herself, I'm sure he had a few sober moments to do it had she seized the opportunity. Maybe it would've helped, maybe not. Who knows?

The combination of drugs & incest has obviously had many lingering & long term effects on her which she felt she needed to publicly bring to light, I'm guessing she
hopes it will provide a catharsis for her. I don't know why else she would publish this book @ this time, unless it's to warn others about what victims of incest go through & how it can affect their lives even decades later. John Phillips died in 2001, so the only negative affect it will have on him is a little more damage to his already sketchy legacy, which is not a positive one by any stretch of the imagination, so unless he's doing the backstoke in a lake of liquid hot magma somewhere, he'll go vitrually unpunished. In a CNN story, the headline is John Phillips had checkered, sometimes sordid life . Hmm, he divorced his 1st wife, was a notorious junkie, raped his daughter & then tried to marry her. I guess you could say his life was sordid 24/7/365/52/12! There's a special circle in Hell reserved for scumbags like him, it's actually a subcircle of 2! As a highly successful musician, he had his pick of literally thousands of women, who would throw themselves @ him, yet somehow, he chose his daughter to have sex with on a regular basis. Though, he should've gotten the message that she didn't want him when he had to rape her the 1st time. That would've been a pretty telling clue but I suppose when you're so high off your ass to the point that you're entertaining romantic thoughts toward your own daughter, nothing is out of bounds. You can only assume that even when he wasn't wasted, he was looking @ her the same way so even if you were someone who could excuse his behavior as it related to his extensive drug & alcohol abuse, how could you label him as anything other than a sexual deviant in that light?

And yes, there is always the chance that she is lying about the entire thing, that her many years of drug use has clouded her mind & memories to the point that what she remembers & what happened are 2 different things. But, given his reputation & what we already knew about him, this isn't that difficult to believe. Maybe her book wasn't all that exciting, perhaps her editor told her she'd better punch it up a little bit if she wanted to have a best seller. But, what are the odds she would've taken it that far? If it really went on for the better part of a decade, the odds are pretty good she's remembering it fairly accurately. True, he's not around to defend himself anymore but that's a pretty heavy accusation to be bandying about to make a few bucks. Talk about airing your dirty laundry in public. How must've this been eating away @ her all these years? How has she gone on living? It isn't like this is some repressed memory brought to the surface by hypnosis or some kind of shock trauma, this has been @ the forefront of all the thoughts in her mind forever. Or, @ least, since she's been off drugs.

Her half sister Chynna Phillips and Mackenzie's "One Day at a Time" co-star Valerie Bertinelli believe her & are supporting her but it looks as though they are they only ones.

(CNN) - "I am stunned by Mackenzie's terrible allegations about her father," Waite, John Phillips' third wife, wrote in a statement released to "The Oprah Winfrey Show." Mackenzie Phillips appeared on the show Wednesday. "I would often complain about her overly familiar attitudes towards him, and he said it was just her way. John was a good man. ... He was incapable, no matter how drunk or drugged he was, to have sexual relations with his own child." And Mackenzie's half-brother, Tamerlane, the follower of an Indian guru, is having none of it. "My family is and always will be a decrepit bowl of dog urine compared to Nityananda of Ganeshpuri. That is how great Nityananda is," he told the New York Post's Page Six. "Worship Nityananda, not the Phillips family." This Nityananda fellow sounds pretty awesome, I'll be sure to start following his Tweets.

Hello, that whole family is Jacked up. & just what the hell does that say about Nityananda if he needs comparisons to the Phillips family in order to look good? He's got to be happy to be linked to this mess. Yeesh. I'm sure almost every single screwed up aspect of the Phillips family is that way because of John Phillips & his myriad perversions & addictions. Mackenzie, for one, will never recover & will be blaming herself for the rest of her life. Like I said before, it would've behooved her to chop off his hang down when she had the chance. Where was Schneider when we really needed him? He had all kinds of tools.
